I'm A Slacker....

So instead of blogging I have just been staring at Nate. Now I could easily blame my lack of updating due to all the sleepless nights, endless feedings, and many diaper changes causing me to have no time for computers, laundry, vacuuming, etc. But that's not the case. I have accomplished the laundry, vacuuming and other mundane household tasks but I find myself unable to attend to the bills, computer, or emails because quite frankly I'd rather sit on the couch, hold my son, and watch very trashy TV that I've never had the chance to watch before.

N is 2 weeks and 3 days old today. We had our first doctors appointment (where he was measured, he has gone 2 times for a jaundice check) today and he's looking good! His birth weight was 8 lbs 11oz, his last doctors visit he was 8.14. Today he weighed in at..... 9 lbs, 15oz!!! Holy crap!I thought for sure I was going to get scolded by the Dr that he's humongous but she said he was right on track and doing very well. He's also gained a half an inch in length bringing him to 22.5 inches. He's in the 90th percentile for height, and 75th for weight and head circumference. All in all, he's a very healthy, growing boy.

In the past 2 weeks, Nate has changed quite a bit.
*His hair is lightening to blonde
*His eyes became more blue (please stay!!!)
*He's much more alert.
*He recognizes Kevin's and my voice and will lean towards us if others are holding him.
*He eats a lot more
*He sleeps through the majority of the night

He loves his Fisher Price Seahorse, loves to be swaddled in the Halo Sleepsack and Swaddler, and likes to sleep during nap time in his Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleeper. I would say right now, these are 3 things we need everyday. He also enjoys the Sleep Sheephis lullaby cd, and his crib soother for the night. He obviously loves music and noise. He also seems to enjoy the TV. Whoops, just like his mommy and daddy. He really enjoys laying on his playmat and doing tummy time (although he usually falls asleep.)

Overall he's a very good boy. Everyone (myself included) thinks he's absolutely beautiful and perfect!
Now, some pictures!

He HATES the flash. That's when he makes these faces!

Tummy Time!

This is me at 10 days postpartum. Still have about 30 pounds to lose!

This is one of my favorites. Taken with my phone.

This is another favorite!

2 Weeks!

Hopefully the next post I make won't be in another 2 weeks!

37 Weeks= Full Term Baby!

So Wednesday marked our 37th week and put us at full term. Meaning he could come any second.... That's crazy to think about!

This week also marked the first of my weekly exams at the doctor. I had my appointment on Friday and I was a little nervous about it. Kevin came along too because he could tell I was feeling weary and I love that I didn't even have to ask him, he just decided to come to be with me. Of course he loves coming and hearing the heartbeat etc. but he's been very busy at work lately. So for him to come with me and leave work an hour and a half early on Fri meant going to the office both Saturday and Sunday for a little bit to make up for it. He's truly the best husband ever.

Anyways, the appointment went OK I suppose. I am a fingertip dilated and she could feel his head was there ready to go. She mentioned possibly stripping my membranes/inducing me next weekend because he's a big boy. This completely freaked me out. I guess I'm not as ready for him as I thought. I have everything ready but the thought of him coming 2 weeks early was quite shocking.
I'm going to see how the appointment on Thursday goes and if I've made any progress. If not, I'm opting to not be induced and letting nature take its course. Whatever happens happens right??

A Full Term Bump Pic:
I'm gigantic....

Your Pregnancy: Week 37

Today brings two beautiful words: full-term. Now, whenever baby's born, he's likely to thrive. Also thriving? Your nesting instincts, which are behind those sudden urges to bake, clean, or embroider a onesie. (Feminists, take your issue up with nature, not with us.)

Baby's now the size of a watermelon!

Your full-term (yay!) baby is gaining about 1/2 ounce a day and getting his first sticky poop (called meconium) ready. He's also brushing up on skills for the outside world: blinking, sucking, inhaling, exhaling, and gripping (it's getting strong!).

Our checklist is done minus the few last minute things that need to be packed in the hospital bag. I'm hoping for Spring to show up soon. It teases us here and it's making me crazy. Kev and I just can't wait to take Nate for walks with the dogs through our park.

31 Weeks!

Well I haven't posted in a while because our regular computer is down due to the Den renovations. They're still in progress (see next post) but I decided I couldn't wait any longer to post 31 weeks since I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow!

So during the 31st week I had a doctors appointment and she said everything is great. His heartbeat is fast (as usual), he's moving around a ton (as usual) and he's head down facing the back (like a good little boy already!) During our childbirth class the Monday prior to my appointment, we were talking about Birth Plans. Naturally I had to ask Dr. C about this because I was unsure whether or not I needed one. I mean, really? Can you really make a plan about your baby's birth? If I had to make one, I can presume it would look something like this:

Tonia's birth plan:
Do whatever you need to do to be sure he comes out safely and that we're both ok.

(end birth plan)

So, I decided it's unnecessary to type that out and hand to the nurses and doctors. I think they'll do that either way.
I'm sure these birth plans are helpful to some women but in my opinion, it's really like setting up for failure. I mean, how can you truly determine every aspect of the way your labor will go prior unless it's a planned C-Section? Considering you can't determine the exact day the labor will take place, I think the rest of the plan becomes shot from that point.

Anyways, on to the bump pic:

The baby is around the same size as last week. Mainly just gaining some weight. He seems to be doing really well. He responds when I tap my stomach for the most part and he especially loves Kevin's voice. Whenever Kevin starts talking in the morning, he starts kicking away. Granted, part of it could be because it's morning, but I like to think it's because he loves his daddy already!

Realizing I only have a few weeks to go, I have to start getting some stuff done! Things I need to do include:
Wash baby stuff
Pack Hospital bag
Take tour of hospital
Install car seat
Purchase any other needed items (I don't think there's much right now)

So far I think we're pretty ahead of the game. We're ready when he is but I'd rather him stay in for a little while longer :)
